The inventor of CRISPR and one of the minds behind the Human Genome Project is no longer content just reading and editing DNA—now he wants to make new life. In Ben Mezrich’s latest book, Wooly: The True Story of the Quest to Revive One of History’s Most Iconic Extinct Creatures, Church and his Harvard lab try to do the impossible, and clone an extinct Woolly mammoth back into existence. Mezrich, author of the books that would become the feature films 2. The Social Network, seems to have graduated from college to a bioengineering Ph. ![]() D with his latest work, which is chock- full of scientific explanation detailing every aspect of the Church lab’s efforts to rewrite the DNA of an elephant to look like a wooly mammoth. But Mezrich is even more interested in telling the stories of the people trying to make the mammoth a reality, dramatizing the lives of Church, his wife, Harvard Professor Dr. Ting Wu, their fellow scientists, researchers working for a competing cloning lab in Korea, and the conservationists at the Siberian preserve where the mammoths will finally reside. While at times his predictions feel too good to be true, Mezrich’s prose rarely fails to engage. Gizmodo sat down with Mezrich to talk about a few of the themes present in his book, as well as the future of de- extinction and scientific breakthroughs in general. Below is a lightly edited and condensed version of the interview. Gizmodo: What brought you to extinct species revival in particular? Mezrich: I’ve been interested in mammoths since I was a kid, basically, and I’ve always been a fan of Michael Crichton and Jurassic Park, so it’s always been on my mind to tell a story like that. Then a couple years ago, I started hearing about Dr. George Church and the Mammoth Revival project, and I decided I just needed to tell this story. So I basically reached out to him blindly. He let me embed myself in his lab, so I spent a while just living there seeing what was going on, and just getting really into it. Gizmodo: An early chapter of the book opens four years in the future, when humans have succeeded in bringing mammoths back to life. What makes you think the project will succeed so soon? Mezrich: Even at this moment, right now, there are three prehistoric woolly mammoth [genomes] alive, living in elephant cells, so we’re on the verge of it. I was talking to George [the previous night]. Even though he doesn’t put a date on it, I put the four year date, but he sees that as totally possible. The slowest part of the process right now is the gestation period of an elephant. Whether we’ll have a woolly mammoth in three years or just be very close in three years, I don’t know, but a lot depends on the money and on the elephant. The initiative is how they work on it, but it is feasible. Gizmodo: Let’s talk about the money. That’s a huge motivating factor behind the project, but it seems like the wealthy are the ones funding scientific efforts a lot of the time (Editor’s Note: The Church Lab’s Genome Sequencing project is funded mainly by private computing and biotechnology companies). Is this a good thing? How do you feel about science funded on the whims of oligarchs? Mezrich: Well it’s interesting, you look at this marriage between incredibly wealthy people and science, and in some ways it’s a very good thing. You know, in some ways it pushes science forward. You’re not gonna see (and I wish you would) Donald Trump pouring money into the woolly mammoth revival project, you’re not seeing the government doing these things. Scientists] do often have to turn to outside sources, and if someone like Peter Thiel wants to live forever, he needs to fund the things in George Church’s lab. So whatever his personal goal, it’s good for everybody. I look at it as a positive thing, I think big money has always influenced outside- the- box science, look at what Elon Musk does or what’s going on at Amazon, Facebook or Google. It’s very very wealthy people throwing money at crazy ideas, and hopefully we all benefit from it. Peter Thiel put in $1. Gizmodo: This book and The Accidental Billionaires both had the protagonists receive additional funding from Peter Thiel. How do you feel about his involvement in particular in such immediately relevant work? Mezrich: Yeah, I’ve written about him twice. Editor’s Note: Mezrich also covered Peter Thiel in his book Accidental Billionaires) In this case the way George tells the story, he basically ran into Peter Thiel, and told him about a couple of projects. Thiel said tell me your craziest projects, and he listed a couple of them, and [Thiel] said, ‘the woolly mammoth, that’s the one I want to do.’Gizmodo: Speaking of other projects, is Church working on anything half as crazy as a mammoth? Mezrich: Yeah, absolutely, Church and his lab [are] doing the anti- malaria mosquitos, working with the Gates foundation, they’re building domes over villages in Africa and releasing mosquitoes that can’t carry malaria, to test them out. Also, his student Ken Esfeld at MIT is working on transgenic mice to beat lyme disease. The goal is to release 1. Lyme disease onto the island of Nantucket, which is kind of a wild story. In his lab, they’re also working on the pigs with human- compatible livers. They’ve a couple of pig embryos with livers that can be used in humans. You’re looking at the future of transplantation, which is incredible. They’re working on projects to extend lifespans… but the mammoth project and the ones with the transgenic species are the craziest. Gizmodo: Do you think meddling with ecosystems and reviving lost species could have negative effects on living ones? Mezrich: You have to be very ethical and responsible because you’re working with technology that is very powerful. The same technology that allows you to create a woolly mammoth or an extinct species allows you to eliminate a species if you want. You could eliminate mosquitos (Editor’s Note: Scientists are discussing the possibility of doing this with a controversial and speculative technology called gene drive), but that brings up enormous issues in ecology. I think bringing back an extinct species like the mammoth is generally a good thing, I think that the people who don’t want Church to do that are usually thinking what does it mean for the Asian elephant population, which is endangered. But it’s not a zero sum game—we’re not giving up on these endangered species . We now have the technology to bring back a species we mostly ate out of existence. It’s like a karmic righting of a wrong, and there’s been a lot of talk about the sixth extinction, species are going extinct all over the place, but the fact that we can bring one back is a huge moment, I think, in human history and our ability fix the things we were breaking. We have to live with our environment, but we also have to figure out ways to make it better, and if bringing back a woolly mammoth to help the environment is something we can do, it’s something we should do. We have to live with our environment, but we also have to figure out ways to make it better, and if bringing back a woolly mammoth to help the environment is something we can do, it’s something we should do. Gizmodo: Church isn’t the only one working to clone a mammoth. There’s also Hwang Woo- suk’s Korean dog- cloning lab, Soaam Technologies. Can you talk about how you got involved with them? Mezrich: This is a wild story—this is the story of a disgraced scientist. He was the one who claimed to clone human cells, but it turns out he had been forcing his students to donate their eggs, and secondly that his clone cells are fraudulent, so he’s trying to resurrect his reputation by being the first to clone a mammoth. So, he has supposedly got incredibly preserved frozen mammoths out of the ice [in the Arctic] in conjunction with some Russians, and is going to use those cells to clone [the mammoth]. Church doesn’t believe that is something that’s going to work. Those materials have been in the ice too long and bombarded by radiation, there’s no reason that DNA should be clonable anymore. They’ve bought up tracts of land in Alberta, Canada, and the people think they want to build their own Jurassic Park up there.. It’s a very strange company, and it sounds to me what they’re chasing is impossible, but Church says nothing is impossible, so who knows?

Welcome to Tough Love. You’ve got problems, I’ve got advice. This advice isn’t sugar- coated—in fact, it’s sugar- free, and…Read more This week we have a man who fell for his lesbian friend. Oh, and they’re new roommates! ![]() ![]() Keep in mind, I’m not a therapist or any other kind of health professional—just a guy who’s willing to tell it like it is. I simply want to give you the tools you need to enrich your damn lives. If for whatever reason you don’t like my advice, feel free to file a formal complaint here. Now then, let’s get on with it. Hello Patrick,There is this girl, and after we’ve been pretty close friends for a while, I realized I was attracted to her. Not wanting to just pine for her, and believing that I saw some signs for mutual attraction, I decided to ask her out. She first agreed to the date, then she wanted to wait for after the summer because she was going to be out of the country for a few months. You’ve got problems, I’ve got advice. This advice isn’t sugar-coated—in fact, it’s sugar-free, and may even be a little bitter. Welcome to Tough Love. No-registration upload of files up to 250MB. Not available in some countries. Torrentz will always love you. Farewell. © 2003-2016 Torrentz. Tabtight professional, free when you need it, VPN service. While that wasn’t the best outcome, I thought it was best to give her space and see what happens when the summer was over. After she got back to the country, we decided to grab a quick coffee, where I told her how I still felt about her and wanted to take her out on a date. It was then she came out to me and told me she was gay. Obviously that was a bit of a surprise, but I respect her decision and obviously understand why she doesn’t see anything between the two of us. The issue is that while I understand this and respect her decision, and appreciate that she was willing to come out to me, I’m still very much attracted to her. As much as I don’t take this rejection personally and deeply want us to just be back to the platonic relationship we used to have, I feel like this lingering attraction I have for her is getting in the way. The kicker is that she is also a new housemate (which happened before I realized I was attracted to her), so I see her everyday at home, and that hasn’t helped me to move on. When it first happened, I thought I should be able to move on faster since there is literally nothing I can do about this, but this hasn’t proved to be the case and I’ve become pretty frustrated with myself. At the same time, I sense there is a bit of withdrawing from her side, since I don’t think she wants to send any wrong signal to me, and that frustrates me even more. Is there something I should be doing? Are my expectations just unrealistic? Am I just being impatient and time will sort this out in the future? Sincerely. Frustrated Fella. Hey Frustrated Fella: You did the right thing in being forward and asking her out, but I get the feeling she didn’t realize you were asking her out on a date. That’s probably why she agreed to it in the first place. Then, when she realized you were implying some sort of romantic meetup, she decided to push it back. Partly because she was leaving, partly because she wanted things to cool off, and partly because she wasn’t ready to come out to you—which is a big deal. Now, before we continue, heed my words: if you get anything out of this, FF, you need to know that there was no “decision” here. She didn’t decide to be gay to avoid going out with you. She’s gay because she is. It has absolutely nothing to do with you in the slightest! Zero, zilch, nada, goose egg! So, the only choice of hers you should be respecting is her decision to be honest and tell you something so personal. Capeesh? Anyway, you’re still into her despite what she told you, and you also happen to be living with her. Oof. First, I’d suggest you look around you and see if you can spot any bad lighting, multiple cameras, or a studio audience because you might be trapped in a sitcom. If that’s not it, you’re in a situation you’ll just have to wait out. Here’s the hard truth (you ready?): you may always be attracted to her. That might not ever go away. But you can’t be with her Frustrated Fella, and there’s no need to be frustrated with yourself. This was all a basic misunderstanding that is getting blown out of proportion by your emotions, dude. Remember, this is probably super weird for her too. The more awkward you make it by avoiding her and acting all frustrated about the situation, the more uncomfortable she’s going to feel around you. I mean, of course she’s going to withdraw if you’re being all sad and pining around her! But while you wait for this to blow over, FF, there are a few actionable things you can do to speed up the process. Start by getting your relationship back to normal as best you can. Strike up simple conversations about day to day things, or talk about stuff you two used to talk about a lot. Avoid talking about this snafu if possible, but if it does come up organically, say it was stupid and that you’re sorry you made it so awkward. If you want things to go back to the way they were before, you have to act that way. The other thing you can do is jump back into the dating pool. If you want to move on, you kind of need to move on, you know? Join an online dating service, hit up the bars or clubs if that’s your thing, or go talk to some single straight girls at a local event. Your friend might feel less awkward with you if she sees you going on dates. Online dating has made meeting people easier than ever, but that also means one little mistake can…Read more You’re stuck in this rut because you want what you can’t have, Frustrated Fella, yet you have to see her every day. Change your environment a little, focus on what you can have, and look back at all of this as a funny story. You’ll be fine—she’s not “the one.” If she was, she wouldn’t be a lesbian. That’s it for this week, but I still have plenty of blunt, honest advice bottled up inside. Tell me, what’s troubling you? Is work getting you down? Are you having problems with a friend or a coworker? Is your love life going through a rough patch? Do you just feel lost in life, like you have no direction? Tell me, and maybe I can help. In Image's Redlands, Witches Are Feared Not Just for Their Magic, But Because They're Women. Witches have come in all shapes, sizes, and powers over the centuries, but there’s one thing they usually have in common: They’re women. Image’s powerful series Redlands highlights the link between womanhood and witchcraft, showing the misogyny behind the mythology. It is impossible to talk about witchcraft without unpacking how fears about witches have been used as shorthand for real sexism. These parallels go back hundreds of years, targeting midwives, widows, and other women who existed outside of accepted norms of their time periods. It’s an issue that’s been explored in countless stories about witches, from Arthur Miller’s critically acclaimed play The Crucible to the 1. The Craft. Robert Egger’s 2. The Witch, for example, is both literally a film about a family being terrorized by an actual witch and about how, when faced with labeled as being “different” by conventional standards, there was a point in time when women were summarily accused of witchcraft. In a disturbing, beautiful way, co- creators Jordie Bellaire and Vanesa Del Rey’s Redlands out today from Image revels in the idea that magic is born from unholy contracts between the devil and clever women. But it’s noticeably careful about making sure you understand that the terror and fear on the page is entirely subjective, and coming from the non- witches’ perspective. A tree engulfed in flames with three nooses swinging from its branches in the roaring fire stands at the center of Redlands’ first panel. Somewhere off in the distance, an unseen man huddled in a police station curses to himself (and everyone around him) that the lynching and burning at the stake they’d attempted has failed. The witches have escaped, the humans are fucked, and everyone knows it. There’s little in the way of explanation as to exactly what happened in the scenes leading up to the book’s opening, but there’s enough to convey strong emotions in the absence of specific details. A group of local men—the town’s police force—are holed up in the police department as the witches move through the shadowy forest, daring them to step out into the light of the fire. In another story, you might feel sympathy for the men and be able to see them as the unlucky victims of Redlands’ demons, were it not for the handful of simple but heavy bits of character detail that co- creators Bellaire and Del Rey carefully place into each panel. Both we and these men know that they’re dealing with the supernatural, but to them, their adversaries are “bitches” before they’re witches, establishing one of the key elements of Redlands’ world- building. You get the distinct sense that the people of Redlands, Florida, fear the trio of witches for their magic, but they hate them because they’re women—exercising a sort of power that the men of the town are not prepared to handle. As the policemen cower in their Confederate flag- lined station, the witches tease and play them from the outside, casting illusions to trick the men into repeatedly opening the door and even leaving, only to be promptly eviscerated by the literal demons waiting for them. While Redlands may initially lull you into seeing the witches as the book’s ultimate threat, Bellaire and Del Ray have the policemen turn inward on themselves. Their reflections deftly gesture to the fact that evil lived in the town long before the witches showed up. In the darkness of their building where they assume they’re safe, the policemen butt up against the prisoners lucky enough to be locked up that night and, in their interactions, you see that the lawmen aren’t exactly friendly with the locals. Racially- charged tension crackles between an imprisoned black man and the white officer on the other side of the bars. The officer goads the prisoner with a flippant remark about being named after his absentee father. The prison responds by reminding the officer that his father’s only missing because the officer’s father killed him. Whatever horrors the witches may have brought to their town, the comic makes it clear it’s bound to be no worse than Redlands’ status quo. Women like the witches, one of the police men spits, are begging for it. And in a way he’s right, the witches are eagerly awaiting for him and all of his friends to just come outside and talk things over—to clear up any and all misunderstandings between their respective parties. But when the town sheriff does ultimately come forward to confront the witches and drive them away with his shotgun, there’s a subtle shift in Redlands’ tone that sets the stage for what the rest of the series holds. The witches haven’t just descended upon Redlands for their own amusement, or even to scare its citizens. Redlands was sick and bloated with evil and rot before the witches set foot in the town. Del Rey’s kinetic illustrations and the shadowy, bloody shades of red Bellaire fills the page with are meant to make you feel the fear surging through the non- witches. But beneath that fear is a deeper understanding that sometimes, this is what change for the better looks and feels like when you’re a part of the problem. Seen from another perspective using a little imagination, the witches’ impending massacre of the police isn’t something to fear—it’s an attempt at healing the town. Almost every story about the persecution of women suspected of witchcraft is also a story about a society unable or unwilling to accept women as competent, powerful people. Darker, more psychological witch tales sometimes tease us as to whether the suspected witchcraft is actually real. Redlands manages to be both kinds of stories while leaving you with the distinct feeling that it’s less of a gritty children’s story retooled for adults and more of a cautionary tale about what happens when you run afoul of the wrong women. Google fired a software engineer yesterday in response to public outrage over the man’s 1. But the firing has become a call- to- arms for alt- right voices on the internet who are crowdfunding money for the engineer, James Damore, and are now calling for a boycott of Google. Apple’s latest MacBook Pro refresh has its fair share of detractors, and for good reason—changes like the omission of traditional USB ports, incompatibility with. Google fired a software engineer yesterday in response to public outrage over the man’s 10-page screed against women being represented proportionally in tech companies. For the first time ever, Nest has redesigned its iconic smart thermostat. The new Nest Thermostat E basically does the same stuff the old thermostat did, but it’s. The calls for a boycott have gained steam on Twitter, where names like Mike Cernovich, Michael Tracey, and Paul Joseph Watson have joined the chorus of people with usernames like CNNis. Retarded, The. Muddy. Cuck, and Grammar Nawtsy in being angered by what they call “diversity crybullies.”Some of the calls to boycott the tech giant refer to getting “red pilled,” a term popular in alt- right circles for when people see reality clearly. The term comes from the 1. The Matrix, where the hero takes a red pill to see the real world around him. In this case, alt- right activists believe that getting red- pilled means you can see the misandry inherent in Google’s decision to fire the engineer. Others on Twitter have been brainstorming alternatives for Google services, which can be a rather daunting challenge for people who have bought into the Google eco- system. Duck Duck Go and Bing have been floated as good alternatives for search, while Vid. You. Tube. Google, of course, owns You. Tube. Some of the most caustic voices have said that “only Jews use” Google now. Others seemed to claim that Google was a Nazi- like organization, replacing the O’s in the Google logo with swastikas. Others were more direct in their accusations, saying that Nazis literally run Google. Plays on the Google name like “Guulag” have also popped up. Popular alt- right conspiracy theorist Mike Cernovich has added to calls that Google become at least 5. Republican, saying that political affiliation should “be a protected class under anti- discrimination laws.”Cernovich has even proposed that the US Department of Justice demand to see what kind of political affiliation exists at every company and enforce some kind of quota. At least I think that’s what he’s calling for since tech companies themselves aren’t registered as political parties. Journalist Mike Tracey, who was viciously assaulted by US Representative Maxine Waters in an infamous video, chimed in to say that he hopes the workplace environment at Google is as “unpleasant as possible.”Others claimed that Google was simply too big and that any boycott of the company would be ineffective. But frankly the alt- right isn’t filled with the smartest people on the internet. Some have called for campaigns to contact Google’s advertisers, a move that has been attempted in the past by those affiliated with Gamergate. Google doesn’t have advertisers in the same way that a newspaper would, obviously. They facilitate the sales of ads and basically own the entire market online. But again, these aren’t the brightest people around. Wiki. Leaks has taken up the software engineer’s cause, claiming that the firing was censorship and offering to hire James Damore. It’s not clear what kind of job Julian Assange has offered Damore, nor whether the two have been in contact. But for now the alt- right calls for protests against Google are likely to continue, as new hashtags spring up to fight for Damore’s right to create what his former employers allege was a hostile work environment. If these people think that Google firing an employee for passing around a sexist screed is an assault on free speech, wait until they hear what the Jeff Sessions Justice Department has in store for journalists. How to Start Your Own Podcast. The podcast craze of the past several years shows no signs of slowing down, and while every armchair broadcaster with a voice recorder app is eager to get in the game, creating a professional- sounding podcast isn’t as simple as it might seem. Here’s how to create, record, and publish your own basic podcast—and get people to listen.*This story originally ran in June 2. August 2. 01. 7 with additional reporting from Patrick Austin.*Before You Start, Be Ready to Commit. Before you rush into things, it’s important to keep in mind that podcasts take a lot of effort to get going. They’re not just recordings of people talking (not the good ones, anyway). Pat Flynn, host of the Smart Passive Income podcast, recommends you treat podcasting the same way you would any other big project: Podcasting is extremely fun and exciting, but there is one thing you must do before you start podcasting: Commit. You must internally commit to podcasting, as you must do with anything that is potentially beneficial but takes some time and effort to do. It’s easy to assume that podcasts are easy to produce because they’re audio only, but don’t be fooled. They can take up a lot of time to put together, especially at first. Also, podcasts do best when they’re released consistently. If you’re interested in developing any kind of listener base, you have to be ready to release episodes on a regular basis. All in all, podcasting can be fun work, but it’s still work and should be treated as such. You also shouldn’t expect to get rich from podcasting either. It’s certainly possible to generate income from podcasting, but that usually requires advertisements and sponsorships—both of which you’ll get after you’ve built up a listenership big enough to make it worthwhile to advertisers. If you’re not interested in starting a podcast for the fun of it or to have your voice heard, you might not get much out of it unless you already have an audience. What You’ll Need. You can’t start a podcast without equipment, and good equipment will go a long way. Here’s what you’ll need: Microphone(s): Any microphone will work for recording your podcast, but listeners can usually tell the difference between low and high quality microphones. If you’re not sure what to look for, our list of the five best desktop microphones is a great place to start (I use four analog Audio- Technica AT2. As you shop around, you’ll also need to decide whether you want to use a USB or analog (XLR) microphone. USB mics convert analog sound into digital so you can plug a USB mic directly into any computer and start recording without much hassle, but you could potentially get lower audio quality compared to analog. Considering you don’t need any extra tools or devices to record with a USB mic, they can be a little cheaper in the long run. Analog microphones use XLR connectors, which means you need another device to get your audio onto your computer, but you can get higher audio quality and can use them with other sound equipment (if you had a PA system or wanted to play live music, for example). Of course, if you have a gaming headset or other basic microphone around, you can easily use that too. Portable XLR Recorder (optional): If you plan on using analog microphones for your podcast, you’ll need something that captures your analog audio and converts it to digital. Portable XLR recorders can capture multiple microphone channels and allow you to do basic sound level adjusting and muting on the fly. Audio files automatically get organized and stored on a memory card that you can insert into a card reader or slot in your computer. These are amazing tools, but they can be expensive. You can find them for anywhere between $1. I use a $4. 00 Zoom H6 Handy Recorder with four available analog channels). Audio Interface (optional): If you want to record directly to your computer with your analog microphones, you’ll need an audio interface. These devices allow you to plug in one or more analog microphones and will convert the analog audio to digital. Most audio interfaces will connect to your computer via USB or Firewire. Audio interfaces can cost as little as $3. You can see why a USB microphone is a cheaper option.)A Computer: Any Windows computer or Mac should work fine to record, edit, and upload your podcast. Thankfully, editing audio doesn’t take a ton of computing power. Additionally, depending on how you choose to record—directly to the computer or onto a dedicated recording device—your computer will also need the right ports. USB microphones, for example, will obviously need an open USB port. If you’re using analog microphones with a portable XLR recorder or audio interface device, you’ll need either a 3. USB port, or in some cases, a Firewire port. So before you spend any money on equipment, make sure you have a computer that can support it. Audio Editing Software: For the actual recording and editing, you’ll need a Digital Audio Workstation (or DAW), there are a lot of good options out there, but the licenses for some of them can cost a pretty penny, though. Licenses for professional level DAWs like Reason or Pro Tools can cost anywhere between $3. Apps like Hindenburg offer simpler audio editing software for under $1. Reaper is a fully loaded audio production app for $6. Adobe’s audio editing software Audition CC is available with a $1. Because of that, most people will recommend free open source programs like Audacity when you’re just getting started, and that’s what we’ll use an example throughout this how- to guide. Pop Filters (optional): The clearer your audio can sound, the better. Pop filters, while not required, are fairly cheap and can keep your plosives from making a nasty sound on your recording. If you don’t want to buy any, though, you can make some of your own. You might be thinking that all this equipment is pretty expensive, and you’re not wrong. However keep in mind that decent audio equipment will last forever if you take care of it. It may be expensive to get started, but after the initial purchase, you’re set. Step One: Narrow Your Topic and Find Your Niche. Just like blogs, there are a ton of podcasts out there. That means that you can probably find a podcast about everything under the sun already. Don’t get discouraged! While just about every broad topic is already covered, you just have to find your spin on things to make an old idea something new. Dear Lifehacker, As a side project/experiment, I’ve started my own blog. The problem is, now that I …Read more For example, if you wanted to make a podcast about music, ask yourself if there’s an audience out there for what you want to talk about. Maybe you narrow your idea down from music in general to bluegrass specifically. Now your coverage is specific: the music, people, and culture of bluegrass. Once you have your topic narrowed down, it helps to add a spin to it. Maybe you talk about bluegrass music and culture while sipping moonshine with your co- hosts. It’s kind of true that everything has been done before, but it hasn’t all been done the way you would do it. So find an angle that’s personally interesting and you’ll be better off. Step Two: Download, Install, and Set Up Audacity. As mentioned earlier, Audacity is a great DAW for podcasting beginners. Stop recording and playback what you just recorded to make sure everything sounds okay. You’ll want to export your audio in the MP3 format later on. In order to do that, you’ll need to download and install the Lame MP3 encoder for either Windows or Mac. Once that’s installed, close and reopen Audacity. Record yourself talking for a few seconds like before, then go to File, then Export Audio, and select MP3 Files in the ‘Save as type’ dropdown menu. Name your file something simple like “test. Find the MP3 file on your desktop and try playing it in your MP3 player of choice, just to make sure everything is working properly. Install Air. Print for Windows The Easy Way. White mea- culpists have had a firm grip in all fields of cultural mind imprinting: education high and low; paper media, then electronic, then digital media; all forms of entertainment, the plastic arts and music high and low, and religious instruction and worship too.
